Jon Lindsay focuses on the legal dimensions of World Bank activities related to property rights, land tenure and management, as well as Bank social safeguard policies, especially resettlement and indigenous peoples. He has written extensively on land and forestry law issues and international trends in compulsory acquisition law and practice.
Mr. Lindsay advises Bank project teams on complex safeguard issues, with a focus on Africa and Latin America, has been closely involved in the ongoing redrafting of Bank safeguards, with a particular emphasis on the proposed new resettlement standard, and assists a number of innovative World Bank projects on commercial agriculture in Africa that deal with land acquisition-related risks and opportunities.
